Birth Doula or Birth Assistant is one such team member that is again becoming a commonplace during labor and delivery. S(he) is there to provide emotional and informational support for mother, baby and father, as well as, act as a liaison between parent(s) and midwife or doctor. A desire for natural, safe and non-invasive birthing is on the rise as mothers want to forgo the possible negative side effects of conventional medication and fully feel and embrace their bodies and babies. With this intention of holistic birthing, Organic Mommy & Baby Birth Doula Service answers this need. The Birthing Package within the doula service is designed to facilitate a safe, empowered, healthy and balanced pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum and beyond with non-invasive methods and by providing thorough support of your basic wellness needs. This service benefits all women, including high-risk pregnancies (diabetic mothers, experience with past miscarriage/stillborn, and past in-vitro fertilization). Documented doula-supported benefits include reduction in the duration of labor, less use of pain relief medications, a reduction in caesarian deliveries, lower rates of fetal distress, increase in breastfeeding, greater self-esteem/self-worth and emotional closeness to baby. *************************** To get started, you will schedule an Initial Consultation to meet with me to learn more about the service and all it has to offer. We will discuss your pregnancy and birth expectations and how Organic Mommy & Baby Birth Doula Service can support you with the best care. Upon hiring me as your Birth Doula Practitioner, you will receive the following in your birthing package: 1. Four prenatal visits (2 at your Midwife/OB office, 1 at your home and 1 at the birth space) 2. An In-Home Assessment - in order to assist you to create and sustain a healthy and organic pregnancy, your home must also support this mission. An In-Home Assessment is designed to provide healthy recommendations on how to enhance the quality of your living space. Together, we will go through a checklist, which consists of: - Nutritional Health - recommendations on the best foods for your pregnancy diet and foods to maintain in the house. - Household/Environmental Safety - recommendations on healthy cleaning products to use during your pregnancy and beyond, ways to eliminate toxic items within the home, how to improve air quality. - Family Member Support - recommendations on how to facilitate a healthy partner support and preparing other child(ren) for baby's arrival. 3. Two 45-minute bodywork per month (options include: Reflexology, Energywork, Aromatherapy application on the body - in-office appointments) 4. Two wellness products per month (options include: Aromatherapy, Flower Essences, Herbal Care) 5. Email/telephone support (time suggestion to contact Birth Doula Practitioner: 11:30am - 7:00pm Eastern Standard Time, Sunday through Saturday; in an emergency - call anytime). 6. Preparing for Childbirth Consultation - though unpredictable, you can still exercise personal power in navigating your desired birth, as best as possible. During your 6th month of pregnancy, we will explore different areas to facilitate the best outcome. Areas include, further defining my role in the birthing process, how the natural therapy modalities will be administered during the birthing process, putting your team of support in place, how to prepare the birth space, deciding when I should come to the birth space, go over checklist of your hospital/birth space bag, breathing technique support, and body positioning support. 7. Being on-call 24/7 from the 37th week until baby is born. 8. On-going emotional and natural therapy support throughout the entire birthing process until you and baby are comfortable (or up to 2 hours after). (You will receive the Birth Support Kit and experience a variety of natural wellness options, as needed, such as, Reflexology, Aromatherapy application, Energywork, Flower Essence, Homeopathy, Herbal Care, Guided Imagery, and Breathing Techniques to assist physical discomforts of (dull, sharp, inflamed sensations, muscle tightness, spasms, fatigue or more), mental/emotional upsets of (fear, panic, shock, worry, loss, confusion, doubt, disempowerment or more), environmental support, breastfeeding support, postpartum balance, or any unexpected change, such as breech support, inducing labor, premature birth, etc.) 9. One postpartum visit within 2 weeks of birth (includes a 45 minute-bodywork, options include: Reflexology, Energywork, Aromatherapy application on the body and a wellness product for mom and baby). *************************** Organic Mommy & Baby Birth Doula Service is available in select areas of New York City, and Hudson County, New Jersey.
